Do you audition?
Not really, but a good level of sight reading is desirable in order to keep pace with our rehearsals and the time constraints on our music learning. Music is Emailed out to singers in good time so that parts can be looked at in advance of rehearsals. For many of our singers, this opportunity for a fast-paced music learning experience leading to an inspiring performance is one of the attractive things about singing with us!
Is it a big commitment?
We meet to sing at least monthly, with the current fixed commitment being Evensong at St Hilda's on the first Sunday of each month. We meet to rehearse at 4pm and the service starts at 6pm. Additional rehearsals are held as and when there is a wealth of new repertoire to learn. Our events take place on an 'opt in' basis, which means you sign up for the events you can do and music is chosen around the voices available each month, but of course more people being able to participate each time will mean more exciting repertoire can be chosen!
Do I need to bring anything?
Not really! There is no cost involved with joining us and music and robes are provided.
Do I need to be a practising Christian?
No, there are no such requirements. Realistically, you need to be comfortable with singing in churches because that's what we do, but our members have a variety of beliefs and we are united in our love of the music!
